But First, We Toast

2022 was a tough one for me. I challenged and stretched myself in so many ways and I came out better and stronger on the other end. However, 2022 was a monumental one for me in so many ways. I learned a lot about myself and really grew into the adult I want to be. Of course, there is always more growth to be done, but I am proud of where I am right now.

But on this first day of the month and year, I wanted to spend some time looking forward to the year ahead. I wanted to spend some time setting some goals and planning for a successful 2023.

My 2023 goals are as follows:

  • Read 20 books
  • Finish my novel
  • Consistently go to the gym
  • Lose 10 pounds
  • Double my number of readers on Syrup & Sawdust
  • Be better about getting rid of things I no longer use to reduce clutter

In 2022, I way surpassed my reading goal and fell so deeply in love with reading. This year I wanted to push myself a little further to read just a couple more books than last year. I’ve gotta get that TBR pile down!

Then we lead into my own novel. I have been working on my novel on and off since about 2019, maybe earlier. It’s never been something I consistently worked on, but rather was a passion project on and off throughout the years when I felt a spark of inspiration. Last year I made some big strides in writing and this year I hope to finish it!

The gym is a big one for me. I didn’t want to say “go 3 times a week” etcetera, but I want to have a consistent schedule where I go. I’m not sure yet what this will look like yet, tbd!

Losing weight is never a goal I’ve had to set as I have been fortunate enough throughout my life to not gain weight quickly. However, though COVID and setting into the comfort of married life, I am weighing in with a lot more fat than muscle, and I would like to just shed some of that this year.

Doubling my number of readers on here is a big one! I have been writing on here for almost a year, and I would love to increase my audience and people reading each week.

Lastly, I want to be better about getting rid of things I no longer use to reduce clutter. This will definitely be the hardest one for me, as I very quickly and easily develop a sentimental attachment to so. many. things. I have so much clutter and junk that I don’t need but I feel an attachment to, so I have a hard time getting rid of things. But this year I am trying to challenge myself to push past the attachment on trivial items and get closer to a clutter-free house.

2022 was a great year in so many ways, and I am hoping to accomplish each one of these goals to set 2023 up for the same success and greatness! Today I am toasting to the new year. A glass of champagne on day 1 is bound to make the year successful, right?

Happy New Year! Cheers to 2023!
